Instructions
Prepare the Paneer: Crumble the paneer using your hands or a fork. Set aside.
Temper the Spices: Heat oil or butter in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Cook the Aromatics: Add finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent. Then, add grated ginger and green chili, and sauté for another minute.
Add Tomatoes and Spices: Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften. Stir in turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
Incorporate Paneer: Add the crumbled paneer to the pan and mix gently to coat it with the spice mixture. Cook for 2-3 minutes on low heat.
Finish with Garam Masala and Kasuri Methi: Sprinkle garam masala and kasuri methi (if using). Stir well and cook for another minute.
Garnish and Serve: Turn off the heat and garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot with roti, paratha, or toast.
Additional tips
- For a creamier texture, you can add a splash of cream or milk while cooking the paneer.
- If you prefer a spicier version, increase the amount of green chili or red chili powder.
- To make it healthier, use minimal oil or substitute with ghee for a richer flavor.
- You can add finely chopped capsicum (bell peppers) or peas for added texture and nutrition.
- Always use fresh paneer for the best taste and texture.
